Episode 10 - Ghost Chase
(with added Cat)
“Come to make my life even more miserable, have you?” Said Nick to Lorelei.
“No, I’m supposed to be here to help, but I’m not actually sure how. Fluffy Frost said you lost a gun?” Nick’s eyes went back to the weapon, still there, still beautiful, still lost to him. He sank his chin towards his chest again and didn’t reply.
“What Misery Guts here would like to tell you,” said Fluffy Frost, “is that rather than sitting in the forest moping about it, he’d like you to look after his pistol for him until he’s ready to face his past.”
“Excuse me! I said nothing of the sort!” Nick’s head snapped round, he was scowling in a ferocious manner. His eyebrows drew so close together, they almost met his moustache. Suddenly Lorelei could well imagine him murdering someone on a dark road at night. She shivered and put her arms round her middle.
“It’s okay, Young One, he can’t hurt you,” said Fluffy Frost. She went and sat down next to the weapon and batted it with her paw, turned her head on one side to look at it and batted it again. The weapon didn’t budge. Its barrels were longer than Fluffy Frost was wide.
“Will you leave my pistol alone?” Said Nick. He was still scowling. It really looked like he wanted to do some harm. Lorelei thought how odd the kitten’s soft body looked next to the brutal metal object made for killing. How odd that she wasn’t scared of it. Lorelei wasn’t sure if she wanted the thing herself, though. What would the sisters say? It was hardly appropriate in a convent, was it?
